Marlou-
There are a couple of good books by Professor Charles Dowding of Northwestern Univ. on the subject. One is entitled "Construction Vibrations". I don't remember the title of the other one but I have both at the office and can check tomorrow. "Construction Vibrations" covers both mechanical vibration effects and blasting effects on structures. There are figures relating damage thresholds to peak particle velocity. If you want more basic research on the subject, there were several papers done by the U. S. Bureau of mines on the effects of vibrations on structures. These tend to focus on blasting as the source but the coverage of damage thresholds as related to peak particle vibrations is very good.

Subject: Articles on soil vibrations from rollers
Gentlemen,
Does anyone know of any good papers or research conducted on the effects of vibrations in soils from a vibratory roller or a pile driving machine to nearby structures.
Thanks.
