You are correct, all loads from container are transferred at the bottom of the corner posts.
Depending on the container mass, loads may be substantial, especially, in your area.
For industrial installations I designed, the client wanted to utilize special container clips http://www.tandemloc.com/0_securing/s_N2501BA.asp with baseplates and epoxy anchors.
