I do remodels all the time and I seldom see grade stamps or connections.
Assumptions have to be made to some degree. When I make them, I assume a fairly low grade lumber such as DF-L #2 for sections of this size.
That’s what you’re missing.
I think Rich’s question is a reasonable one.
