Not true. Any number of Architects have famously acted as engineers--just look at how any news event involving a structural failure or collapse always includes authoritative statements from "the Architect" in the reporting of the event.

Why, a goodly portion of my forensic practice was involved in investigations of structural designs by Architects.

Hey, it's structural engineering, not brain surgery!
