Two words, free weights.
The storage stands at the gym I frequent hold 550# of weight, pluse the
stand weight, say 600# total. The stand is takes roughly 2 sqft, that's
a 150 psf load. I could see one of these stands in a home gym for a
person using free weights in lieu of a machine.
