Bill,

AF&PA’s Special Design Provisions for Wind & Seismic (free download at http://www.awc.org/pdf/2005WindSeismicSupp.pdf) has shear and stiffness values for 1x6 & 1x8 diagonal lumber sheathing.

I’m working on an existing building built in Orange County around 1920 (or so). I need to determine the strength and stiffness of the floor diaphragm.

I know that the four term APA equation probably doesn’t apply, but if not that, then what should I use instead?

TIA,

T. William (Bill) Allen, S.E.
