Has anyone on the list looked at the following sections in the 2007 CBC (2006 IBC)?
CBC 1911.1
ASCE 7-05 section 14.2.2.17
ACI appendix D
This would be the case when seismic loads are included in the design.
Based on this criteria for determining the allowable load on a 5/8” dia anchor bolt placed with in 1.75” of the edge (load parallel to the edge) is around 350# (service load) and 490# strength.
Are others on this list getting these values? The ACI appendix D equations are quite cumbersome.
I have not even considered the case where the load is acting on the bolt towards an edge.
This condition is common in wood frame design when bolting a mud sill to an 8” or 6” stem wall.
