RE: California Building Code and the 2006 IBC

I agree, as understand it, the grace period is July 2007 to Jan 2008. It is a state mandate that all jurisdictions enforce the 2007 CBC on Jan. 2008. San Francisco has not published their amendments to the 2007 CBC, I spoke with a building official who said the amendments need to be approved by our board of supervisors and hopefully will be published in late december 2007.

The State adopted the IBC in June or July…The state is currently in the “review period” as the local jurisdictions move toward adoption in Jan08.  I do not believe COLA can NOT adopt the CBC at that time.

Fellow Listers -
 
I hear California is adopting the IBC in January, 2008. Does any one have an idea on what the code status is for the city of Los Angeles? Will they also be adopting in January, 2008? Will there be any grace period where you can submit under either IBC or UBC(CBC 2001)? Will they have amendments? Um, sorry, the questions should have been, "how many amendments?"
 
I tried calling the LA Call Center and I didn't get any help.
