that the combo box returns an index number of the list item chosen by the
user. This can then be used for data lookup, or easy to write IF-THEN
statements. Data validation works great for simple switches like yes/no or
seismic/nonseismic, but is less useful for more complicated information.
One trick I learned was to always include reference lists for either control
type on the same sheet as the control. You can then copy individual sheets
to other books without loosing the control links.
