As you probably already know, the 6061-T6 is what is specified for structural aluminum by USACE for Stoplogs.
It is commonly used in the manufacture of heavy-duty structures requiring good corrosion resistance and is used in marine components.
I don't know the exact mils per year for corrosion in seawater projects, but it is recommended for marine application.

I'm desiging a small gate (i.e., 5'x5') that will be exposed to seawater.
Is 6061-T6 a valid temper/alloy for a structure that will be subjected to this corrosive condition during it's design life? Is there another temper/alloy that's more appropriate?
