Thanks for the input. I accessed the web site and printed the page. I
called Mr. Pike (new phone number is 916-440-8300) this morning and
left a message for him to call me back. He is on jury duty and that
may take a while.
While we are waiting:
The OSHPD letter by Anthony R. Pike addressed to Mr. Richard Lloyd is
dated on July 26, 2005.
The adoption of the 2006 IBC or the adoption of 2007 CBC are usually
set on Jan. of the next year of the publishing date. That would
either be 2007 and 2008.
So the letter itself is for the old code. For the state of California,
we were using the 2001 CBC at the time this letter was prepared.
I will keep the list posted on his interpretations.

Look at the letter on the second page of this file. It's a recent
approval from an OSHPD engineer.

This looks like it is the same or similar to your application and
gives you another contact or two. A lot would depend on if a "channel
nut" could be called a "friction clip". If you end up going in a
different direction than Harold suggests, get an acceptance in
writing.
