If I remember correctly, there was an e-mail exchange questioning about the value of category I between the Non-Hurricane and Hurricane prone regions.
(ref. Table 6-1 page 77 of ASCE-7-05).
The outcome of the exchange (if there was) failed to reach me due to our network server scenario. I was disconnected from the Seaint circulation for almost 2 months. This morning we had a discussion with my engineers about this table 6-1.
Is anybody had/able to get a response of why category I importance factor (I) varies this way?
Category Non Hurricane prone Region Hurricane Prone Regions w/ V>100mph
w/ V = 85 -100 mph and
I 0.87 0.77
