Vish,I seem to recall seeing just a few days ago, a graphic showing that English has the largest number of words BY FAR than any other language on Earth. In fact, I was surprised at the gap between it and the second language (I think it was either Spanish or French).
It is a vast and interesting topic but IMO this particular term has nothing to do with linguistic complexity.
English is in no way crazier than any other human language. Яussian, for example, is as hilarious (and English has far more logic if compared), yet native speakers usually just don't notice.
The more words you have, the more possibilities for "craziness."
English syntax is far more suited than most other languages for "linguistic absurdities." See any of the nonsense poems by Lewis Carroll or Ogden Nash for examples.
