We typically use an L or Single plate welded to the bottom of the base plate. Then design it as a “cantilever beam”.

Depending on the space constraints, can you place an embed plate with shear studs, then place the column with plates or angles on 4 sides, welded? Access hole provided for grout... Anchor bolts project above. A lot of coordination, but not impossible.
