important infrastructure project was in progress. I learned their approach
for certain intricate dynamic analysis problem and concluded that they have
a gross conceptual misconception. Probably when I presented my arguments
against the rationale of their analysis was too late, because the project
was close to finalize. They insisted that their method was conservative.
However, the specialized literature gives a clear methodology for the
problem, different from the one they used.
The project is going to be constructed soon. This area has high seismicity.
I consider that the integrity of the structures would be compromised with a
strong ground motion.
I should disclose my concerns to a local regulatory agency? What about the
ethics and confidentiality?
Please, let me know your thoughts,
Jorge Jimenez, PE
