I had this same problem with removing a bicycle rack in my garage for painting. When I went back to reinstalled the lag bolts they were a little loose. A squirt or two of Gorilla Glue in the holes prior to re-installation of the lag bolts took care of it.

Add some Epoxy into the hole before inserting the reused lag bolt =this will make sure the hole is snug

The 2005 NDS in section 11.1.2.2 requires the holes to be a minimum of
1/32" to a maximum of 1/16" larger than the bolt diameter. Reusing the
holes may not meet this requirement. Another option is to use the same
holes but use a lag screw that has a larger diameter.
