Re: seaint Digest for 6 Dec 2011

"Waler" is correct, also "wale" or "wale beam".

According to that never-to-be-doubted source Wikipedia: "A wale is a horizontal member of a tie-back wall which transmits the force from the tie back to the beams".

That actually doesn't sound right, but it must be since it's on the internets.
